What is the Unified Competence Framework (UCF)?
The Unified Competence Framework (UCF) is a structured model that brings together key competencies in sustainability, digital literacy, and spatial thinking to equip teachers with the skills needed for geospatial education in ESD.

- GreenComp – European sustainability competencies
- DigiComp – Digital literacy and collaboration framework
- Spatial Citizenship & Spatial Skills – The role of geospatial data in decision-making
By combining these elements, UCF provides a holistic approach to teaching sustainability using geospatial tools and digital technologies.
Key Competencies in the UCF
The framework identifies four interconnected pillars:
